YAHYAH - Single/Video Review: Go
Up and coming artist YAHYAH released her new single and video Go with nearly 7,000 streams on Spotify so far! She’s an electro-pop goddess from Aotearoa, hoping to make her entry to the big world of music. YAHYAH has experience with the local music scene, and that of London. Later even helping out musicians with songwriting in LA, which is cool to say the least. You can tell she’s rising fast and getting out there, and this new single/video is an endearing exposure of her style and expression.
This song opens with sonic scopes of ambience and blissful pop production. Go has a great beat, and smooth guitar licks. What makes this single is the vocals for sure; I can hear a bit of Kim Petras, AlunaGeorge or even our own Theia or Georgia Lines. Obviously, YAHYAH is her own flavour which I love. However, we’re definitely stepping into alt-pop territory. I love the Charli XCX feel, mixed with her own almost punky energy.
Backseats of cars, skimming boards in skateparks, chilling on hill cliffs and grimacing on stage; I couldn’t really imagine a more wholesome ride back through my own late-teens and twenties. YAHYAH’s music video of this track is full of fun camera angles, subdued colours and sketches which make for a youthful hit of feeling and existing. The track is about tripping up and falling for someone, experiencing it all and then leaving with the memories.

New Zealand born, YAHYAH’s Holly Cameron started out digging deep into the indie music scene of her time, before transporting to London at the fresh age of 16. Being at the heart of such a thriving musical city, YAH was quickly inspired and addicted.
YAHYAH's sound is a collection of the musical influences that have been thrust upon her - from jazz to RnB .. to pop and dance music. Her blend of electronic pop has garnered her serious attention and acclaim in Aotearoa’s pop scene, and far beyond.
