Scarlett Eden - Single Review: Real Life

02 Nov 2022 // A review by Gaby Ivanov-Giraldo

Scarlett Eden’s new track released this October 21st, and it’s called Real Life. Coining herself a "funked up pop filled R&B singer", Scarlett experiments with blues, funk, jazz, R&B, and soul. She prides herself on live performance and a love for singing. She’s played Road to Rhythm and Vines, Cape Estate Boxing Day, Madcap Cassette Nine, Common Room showcase and opened for Nathan Haines and Netsky. Scarlett has also busked in Europe, and played in London. Her passion for singing started young, and she was influenced by artists such as Aretha Franklin, Erykah Badu and Amy Winehouse.

Real Life is a showcase of soul and emotion. She’s a fine wine that sits perfectly in the background of a popular bar, or hot spot of social traffic. She’s cool and current, and has a groove that's catchy and resonant. She’s got good control of her vibrato; she’s one you can cruise with.

You hear 1970’s Motown meeting a modern swing in Real Life; it’s as if the rawness of this unfiltered sound is kept live. I applaud Scarlett's authenticity and I would love to hear more!

About Scarlett Eden

Scarlett Eden, NZ-raised singer-songwriter, born in London town, delivers a-mixture of Soul and Jazz with her own street-inspired twist. Whether performing solo or with her talented band she will have the crowd captivated and entertained from beginning to end.

Scarlett’s passion for singing started at a young age and she has always been drawn to Jazz, soul and RnB. Having gained her diploma in musical arts as a vocalist, she has been working passionately to create her debut EP. Taking influences from Aretha Franklin, Nina Simone, Amy Winehouse, Erykah Badu and Lauren Hill, she strives to be a storyteller with such power and uniqueness as these artists; getting that hook that creates attention and sits in that sweet place in the track.

Songwriting and Live performance are Scarlett’s greatest passions. Developing her career as a singer and a writer is her sole focus. With a belief that music is a gift that comes from the heart, igniting conversations and evoking emotions.
