FRAZEY FORD – OBADIAH

Obadiah” is the first solo album from Frazey Ford the singer with acclaimed Canadian alternative folk-roots act Be Good Tanyas, is a wonderful return for an artist who pioneered the present day acoustic movement. “Obadiah” is a collection of songs hand-carved by the hardships and exaltations of life, and stained with the rich colors of soul and folk music that fueled artists like Joni Mitchell, Ann Peebles, Neil Young, and Donny Hathaway, it also includes a wonderful cover of Bob Dylan’s “Desire” highlight ‘One More Cup Of Coffee’.

For Fans of: Be Good Tanyas, Joni Mitchell, Neil Young

CHALI 2NA – FISHMARKET PART 2

Back once again with the second installment of his “Fish Market” series, it's your favorite deep baritone voice, Chali 2na. Teaming up with DJ Dez Andres of Slum Village fame, Chali brings another collection of brand new tracks and collaborations from older projects Chali has fished from the depths. The unofficial point man for West Coast underground favorites Jurassic 5 and long time Ozomatli collaborator has toured the world playing for diverse audiences ranging from Intl' Jazz Festivals to underground fans as Hip Hop hot spots.

AUDIO SHAMAN – CITYZEN

While the rest of us have been lounging, downtempo duo Carey O'Sullivan and Paul George aka Audio Shaman have been hard at work in the studio recording their new album “Cityzen”. Picking up where their 2007 debut album “Welcome Traveler” left off, “Cityzen” is richly layered with atmosphere and sounds from our world and beyond, but also marks a progression in flavor and grooves for the duo.

For Fans of: Nicodemus, Moby, Café Del Mar Series

PEARLY GATE MUSIC – PEARLY GATE MUSIC

Pearly Gate Music is the musical outpouring of Zach Tillman brother of Fleet Foxes drummer and singer/songwriter in his own right Josh Tillman. But Zach is a different species to his brother, Zach’s music has a self-professed ‘slacker’ vibe, drawing inspiration from bands like The Velvet Underground, Pavement and Neutral Milk Hotel, but like these aforementioned bands he has the ability to create real beauty. It’s haunting, mysterious, and elusive.

For Fans of: Fleet Foxes, Stephen Malkmus, Josh Tillman

GOOD RIDDANCE – CAPRICORN ONE

As a stalwart in the independent scene and forbears of the melodic hardcore sound, Good Riddance worked tirelessly to create a consistent stream of new material. Their indefatigable drive presented the band with the opportunity to release a multitude of singles, splits (with other hardcore acts Ignite, Ill Repute, Ensign), and various other offerings, none of which was ever included on their full-length albums. “Capricorn One” is a collection of all these songs as well as six previously unreleased tracks.

For Fans of: Pennywise, Propagandhi, Strung Out

ATTACK ATTACK! – ATTACK ATTACK!

On their sophomore effort, Attack Attack! continue their furious path upwards to the top of the hill, blending the most extreme elements of metal and pop to conjure up what can only be categorized as a new genre all together. Having sold an impressive 75,000+ albums in the States, Attack Attack! Are visiting New Zealand in September!

For Fans of: Alexisonfire, Parkway Drive, The Devil Wears Prada

RJD2 – INVERSIONS OF THE COLOSSUS

Following upon the success of “The Colossus”, RJD2 returns with “Inversions of the Colossus”, a companion piece of its own unique nature. In essence, all 7 of the vocal songs on “The Colossus” appear here sans vocals. The remainder of the album is made up of 7 new songs-14 tracks in all! Ranging from banging dancefloor funk to extreme psychedelia, it follows a similar “no format” approach as “The Colossus” did. Yet another solid collection of classic RJD2.

For Fans of: DJ Shadow, Blockhead, UNKLE

DAN KELLY – DREAM

Dan Kelly is no stranger to an epic tale of adventure - in fact, he specializes in this very thing. His vivid three-minute guitar pop jams are epic tales, distilled with essence of tropicalia, bottled into woozy underwater escapist fantasies and coloured with ecological dread, then shaken with his unmistakable wit. Dan Kelly has been a solo performer, notched up five ARIA nominations, been a touring guitarist for Augie March, Bic Runga, and the Ukeladies, He has toured the world many times solo and playing guitar for Paul Kelly.
