Like A Storm are an explosive, progressive, melodic rock band hailing from Auckland. There they developed a great following - packing out their own shows, supporting high-profile acts on nation-wide tours, winning national competitions and being the first unsigned band to be voted No.1 single on New Zealand's biggest rock radio station.
Although they've only been together a year, Like A Storm are the hybrid of 2 of Auckland's best young rock bands, Fluid and Inertia. Their desire to create something truly special saw the more dedicated members of each band join to form LAS. Their hunger to reach a wider audience drove them to pack up and make the pilgrimage back to the continent of Rock n Roll. Since the 3 brothers are Canadian-born, Canada was the obvious choice for the band's relocation. They are currently holed up in Vancouver rehearsing for their upcoming shows.
LAS has a depth of sound seldom seen in modern rock. They draw inspiration from the sound-scapes of Nine Inch Nails and A Perfect Circle, the raw energy of Nirvana and Guns n Roses, and the tuneful melodies of the Beatles and Green Day. However in an age where emulation and copy-cat bands seem to be the norm, LAS are determined to do their own thing.
An LAS show is like no other. Where else can you see a band with 3 singers move seamlessly from hard-hitting thrash rock to piano driven ballads, with a range of instrumentation from synths to didgeridoos - all delivered with unseen energy, explosion and entertainment?
Like A Storm are determined to take their sound and show to the world, and Vancouver is only the beginning.
Band Members:
Chris Brooks (guitar, lead vocals)
Kent Brooks (bass, vocals)
Matt Brooks (drums, vocals)

Fluid Rock It At #1 On Rock FM Posted: Wed May 28, 2003 9:56 am After a mere two weeks of radio airplay and a steady rise through the ranks of the Greenman's nightly countdown show, 'The Big Five At Nine', Fluid's song 'Dirty Industry' made history by making Fluid the first ever unsigned act to reach #1. 'The Big Five At Nine' is judged by public voting, and Fluid were amazed at the range and dedication of their fans to get them so far. Fluid would like to thank everyone that took the time to vote for 'Dirty Industry' and helped them to make NZ rock history. |
