DJ Hawkes - Album Review: Fevah

30 Nov -0001 // A review by Kraven
Hard hitting and explosive are two words that best describe this album - the first NZ release for Fevah. The album contains 24 tracks on 2 CDs, and is an exceptional example of hard house and high NRG trance.

The Fevah story had humble beginnings at the Polar Bear Pub in London's west end on Sunday nights back in 1996. In less than one year the club night went from having 150 to over 3000 clubbers at its events. New Zealanders Eammon Kilgariff and Wayne Hart co-founded Fevah UK almost 4 years ago, and have created an institution on the London club scene.

This CD gives everyone the opportunity to go out and buy the music that is currently pumping NZ niteclubs everywhere, and I recommend you do so. The pulsating music is guaranteed to relax your mind, and will influence you to move your body to the beat.

If you look in the dictionary for the word 'FEVAH' you'll find these two definitions:

a) A state of heightened or intense emotion or activity
b) A contagious usually transient enthusiasm: CRAZE

Either definition perfectly describes the vibe at a Fevah event, and this CD is no exception. The first NZ Fevah party was held in Christchurch in December '99, and the cutting edge styles now attract around 6000 people every two months.

Fevah Records, Fevah's very own record label, have released over 20 albums, nine hard trance and 12 hard house discs. Fevah has indeed grown to be one of the most successful HARD DANCE clubbing brands in the world. This is the first NZ release for FEVAH, and is definitely worth a listen.

About DJ Hawkes

DJ, producer, club night promoter, and general multi-tasking organiser - what doesn't this guy do?

DJ Hawkes' career in the clubbing scene started when he began promoting club nights in London back in 1998. And when another FEVAH DJ, UK based Riksta, took him record shopping, he was hooked.

Within a few months, Hawkes got his first play out with Fahrenhite, then for Fevah UK, before running some of his own nights such as Charged and at Sid's bar in London.

El Schlong - loudious deepthroatus

Reviewed by Tristan Egarr First, this is a biased review; how could it be otherwise? Only after seeing El Schlong play '2 ½ Dalis', did this reviewer realise there were other things in North Dunedin than drunken PE students being cocks, so the band will always hold a special place in my metal heart.
