Yeah Dream Theater didn't spin my wheels either. Impressive to watch play from a musicians perspective, but nothing in the songwriting that grabbed me.

DT are awesome musicians but I'd say that their live show would get pretty boring quite quickly.

I would love to see the Pixies headlining BDO this year that would be awesome! maybe even throw the Breeders in there somewhere.

Pumpkins or Metallica would be OK

i have been looking through other forums and what i have seen on one interseted me. someone "in the know" has said that R.A.T.M is confirmed as headliners and Smashing Pumpkins are confirmed as second headliners. if so AMAZING!!! Also want to put in my view that this time round a world class Boiler Room Headliner is needed, respect to Shapeshifter as i LOVE NZ music but i think a real big boiler room act is needed.....maybe Chemical Brothers, Sneaky Sound System, Basement Jaxx................thoughts?

i dont understand how people could ever complain about it! its always the best day of my year by far! in summer holidays i dont look forward to xmas i look forward to the big day out. $112 to see all those bands is a bargin in my eyes. iv never had a bad day in my 4 big day outs.

R.A.T.M would be amazing! if they come i see it being sell outs at all venues. im excited!

Remember that these are all rumours, and because of the rumours of RATM and Smashing Pumpkins people have taken advantage and posting 'rumoured' headliners.

From what I have heard, BDO headliners and concert headliners all around the world are booked 2 years in advance, considering neither of these two bands were together 2 years ago, it's not as likely as one would seem that these bands will headline or even come to BDO.

Other than that, I think eveyone's pretty much on a good track with some of the bands that will come to BDO 2008

I think this year is the year of the indie/alternative bands!!

Probable definates..

Klaxons (boiler room PLEASE!)
Bjork
Modest Mouse (please please please x49232)
Arcade Fire
Queens of the Stone Age

Arcade Fire would be epic as, they put on a show like Muse...

and as much as everyone would love the Kings of Leon to come back to BDO, they have their own shows in NZ in Jan Sad

and I'd LOVE The Presets to come back, and hopefully they will because they are just across the ditch!

PLEASE DO NOT give Scribe a main stage spot if he comes... Wink

Bjork would be awesome, saw her in 1996 and she blew me away.

I still probably wouldn't travel for it though.

I reckon we start a petition to NOT have Scribe play at the BDO ever again. Get bands like the Antagonist, The Bleeders etc ... bands that people actually like and will make it to the top one day. So many NZ bands don't get the credit they deserve.
