Shivers - Single Review: Under My Skin

13 Dec 2022 // A review by madeleinehoward

Wellington based band Shivers released their latest single Under My Skin on the 8th of November.

Formed in 2018, Shivers consists of vocalist Timmy Porter, multi-instrumentalist Adrian Win and drummer Rick Cranson. In 2021, the group won the Tiny Triumph Recordings ‘Ultimate Music Production Competition' with their single Runaway. The duo have also released drum and bass track Right of Way, a collaboration with Auckland based Sly Chaos which has clocked over 300, 000 Spotify streams and reached number 6 on the New Zealand Hot Singles Chart.

The group's latest offering is a chill, easy listening track. The listener is eased into Under My Skin with soft vocals and simple instrumentation. The track then builds nicely with the addition of bass in the pre-chorus, before the listener is lead into a bigger chorus with full sounding, well produced instrumentation.

Porter's vocals are strong, soulful, and pleasing on the ears. Under My Skin would be the perfect addition to your summer playlist at your next BBQ.

The group are set to release their debut EP in 2023. I look forward to seeing what else Shivers brings us.

Rating: ( 3 / 5 )

About Shivers

Shivers founding members Timmy Porter and Adrian Win first met in late 2018 through mutual collaborator and musician/drummer Rick Cranson.

They spent the next few years honing their sound blending Soul, RnB, Hip-Hop and Drum n Bass with various line ups that included some of Wellingtons finest musicians.

Due to Timmy’s immersion as an MC in the Drum n Bass scene it led to a collaboration with Auckland Trio Sly Chaos in February 2021.
