Second Line Up Announced for The Others Way 2016

10 August 2016 - 0 Comments

Auckland’s Karangahape Road is gearing up to make a racket on Friday 2nd September with The Others Way Festival 2016. A music-lover’s local oasis situated in urban Auckland’s cultural heart, The Others Way boasts an incredible roster of Aotearoa’s most exciting, fresh and favoured music, thanks to Flying Out and 95bFM. Last year sold out a week before the festival and this year tickets are moving even faster. There are an extremely limited number of early bird tickets left, so don’t wait.

It’s an already impressive line-up chocka with emerging and established indie, electronica, hip hop, and alt-pop from New Zealand and beyond - with Yumi Zouma, David Kilgour & The Heavy Eights, Cut Off Your Hands, Fazerdaze, Louie Knuxx, Shocking Pinks, Purple Pilgrims, Scuba Diva, The Phoenix Foundation, Voom, a book talk from Flying Nun founder Roger Shepherd, and so much more.

Twerps and Scott & Charlene's Wedding add two specially-selected Melbourne bands.

Today, the second line-up is announced, and it’s shaping up to be the irresistible icing on the top of an already exceptional selection of acts.

Salacious surf/psych-rock group King Loser (once so notorious they were banned from talking to the media) is rising from the ashes of the ‘90s Flying Nun era to deliver a set nothing short of rollocking. From b-grade Kung Fu to sexy swinging cabaret, King Loser bring their electrifying energy to The Others Way 2016 in their strongest line-up up of Celia Mancini, Chris Heazlewood, Tribal Thunder and Sean O’ Reilly.

They’re joined by folk chanteuse Nadia Reid, whose debut album Listen To Formation, Look For The Signs has found ears all around the globe and seen Reid sell out shows across the UK & Europe.

Also taking to the stage is folk stalwart and man-of-the-people Steve Abel, hot off the back of selling out his Auckland release show for his new LP Luck/Hope, and psych-pop outfit Sleepers Union, featuring members of Loves Ugly Children, The Subliminals, Psychic Maps and Stereobus.

Salad Boys, described by Pitchfork as a “jangly, cerebral, experimental pop group” head North from their hometown of Christchurch to charm crowds with their effervescent indie-pop, their 2015 album Metalmania still ringing fresh in our ears.

The line-up is rounded out by anthemic hardcore punks Master Blaster, the unsound wails of woman-on-the-verge i.e. crazy, teenage post-punk wunderkinder Yukon Era, and the psycho-country surf jams of The Echo Ohs.

These acts will join an already full to overflowing smorgasbord of the best local music, on offer at venues all around the K’Rd precinct on 2 September - and all accessible with one festival pass.
