Canadian blues, rock reggae band Ocean Full of Fins have just arrived in New Zealand to tour while writing their upcoming album, Three to Kiwi. The nine date tour will see these three lads head from Raglan down to Christchurch before coming back to Auckland for their final tour show at Backbeat on Feb 13. With support from a whole host of local acts including All the Wrong Reasons, Freaky Meat and Little Lapin as well as Melbourne hardcore punk band, Clowns (Wellington only), this tour promises to be a well-rounded musical treat. Drawing inspiration from the legends of rock and roll, Ocean Full of Fins embodies a soulful rhythm that echoes a sound of timeless melodies.
Hailing from Fort Langley, BC, Ocean Full of Fins have been together since 2010 steadily writing and performing a two album discography with the most recent album, Two Flew South, released June 2013. This album is a scrapbook of the bands journey over the past year.
It started with the recording of four songs in the summer of 2012 during the midnight hours with producer Anthony Morelli at Nimbus School of Recording Arts. A trip down to Peru in January 2013 helped inspire the second half of the album which was completed at Watershed Productions with engineer/mixer Dave Maszero. Two Flew South consists of a collection of rock and roll standards mixed with a toke of country farm feel and west coast reggae tone.
Ocean Full of Fins have just landed in New Zealand to bring their music to new ears while creating new material for their third album, Three to Kiwi. The tour will run from their first show on Thursday 23rd January at the Yot Club in Raglan, through to shows in Hamilton, Palmerston North, Feilding, Wellington, Kaikoura, Christchurch and Oamaru with the final show on Thursday 13th February at Backbeat in Auckland.
