New from Rhythm and Vines: Giggle and Vines

02 October 2015 - 0 Comments

Rhythm and Vines festival-goers can now enjoy a comical component to their New Year festivities, with the addition of ‘Giggle & Vines’, a new afternoon event featuring some of New Zealand’s best comedy talent.

With thanks to presenting partner, Old Mout Cider, the comedy events, which are a first for the festival will run each afternoon over the three-day festival. The stellar line-up includes:

National 2015 Raw Comedy Winner, Melanie Bracewell
Paul Douglas
Matt Stellingwerf
Will Wood
Jamie Bowen
Cori Gonzalez Macuer

Rhythm and Vines festival founder, Hamish Pinkham said the comedy events are just one of several new components designed to broaden the festival’s appeal even further.

“New Zealand comedy has flourished in recent years, so much so, that this year’s festival will begin each day with some of the country’s top contemporary comedians taking the stage to kick off the night’s celebrations. We’re big on celebrating Kiwi talent, and Giggle & Vines provides a platform for New Zealand comedians to showcase their talents, ” says Pinkham.

Alongside the addition of new entertainment acts, there is more of a focus on food and beverage this year. People can be enjoying the fruits of the comedians labour in the sun at the newly introduced Old Mout Cider shack, located on the R&V festival site. Epic Brewing Company and Gisborne Gold will feature in a newly introduced craft beer garden, and for those heading to Gisborne for R&V by road will notice a fleet of food trucks making their way down, including a collection of trucks from the Street Food Collective and of course Food Truck Garage.

“This year’s diverse music line-up and the new focus on food, beverage and comedy acts is all part of our vision to provide a festival experience which everyone can enjoy, “ says Pinkham.

The first set of musical acts for 2015 were announced in August this year. Included in the line-up are Angus and Julia Stone, Concord Dawn, Cut Snake, Dan Aux, Dave Dobbyn, David Dallas, Jupiter Project, Peking Duk, Pendulum, P-Money, RL Grime, Scribe, Slumberjack, Sticky Fingers, State of Mind, Sniffers, The Black Club w/ Mac Mylo with more acts to be announced. The much-anticipated release of acts to complete the R&V 2015 lineup is scheduled to drop on October 9, 2015.

Follow R&V’s snapchat: RHYTHMANDVINES, where some of the comedians will be taking over their account to have a laugh with R&V's 5000+ snapchat followers.
