Mentors Announced & Applications Open for Ignite

APPLICATIONS OPEN AND MENTORS ANNOUNCED FOR IGNITE 2016

Ten experienced music industry professionals will show the next generation the inner workings of their industry as mentors in a new training programme. They will provide one-on-one support, advice and practical information to the IGNITE participants during the 15 week programme commencing in Auckland this March. Applications to participate in this free programme are closing soon.

Teresa Patterson (CRS Management, Auckland City Limits), Lorraine Barry (Lorraine Barry Management) and Wairere Iti (Grafiti Entertainment, Six60 Tour Manager) will provide their 20+ years of industry knowledge to three lucky young people, thanks to the support of the Music Managers Forum.

Joining this team of mentors are music industry professionals specifically chosen for their varied skillsets as well as their huge passion for fostering creativity in young people. Ami Holifield (Ulcerate Management, Freelance), Amy Pollard (Auckland Council), Anthony Metcalf (100% GOOD, Cassette 9), Ellie Smith (Freelance Tour Manager), Kat Saunders (Auckland Museum, Super Rad Babes), Sarin Moddle (Freelance Artist Liaison, The BizDojo) and Zac Arnold (Radio New Zealand, Flying Out) will be providing their expertise to a further seven young people. The selected participants will be paired up with one of these fantastic mentors taking their musical interest and aspirations into consideration.

Applications to participate in the first IGNITE programme are now open until Sunday 21 February 6pm. A total of ten placements are available and there is no cost to participate in the programme which runs from 12 March to 23 June 2016. ABOUT IGNITE

IGNITE is a new initiative that engages young people aged 15-18 in Auckland with a passion for music seeking event industry training in a 15-week programme commencing in March 2016. Participants will be guided by industry mentors and the opportunity to further up skill at seminars, workshops and hands on experience opportunities.

Participants will put the experience and skills learnt to produce a music-based event at the end of the programme with the guidance of their mentors, the IGNITE team, as well as with the assistance of the IGNITE Event Fund. All participants will reflect on their journey and learnings and present these to graduate from the programme. One deserving participant will be awarded the IGNITE Scholarship to study a Diploma in Music and Event Management at MAINZ.
