Greetings, noble travellers! We are here to ask of thee a request: imagine a jam session between Black Sabbath and Edvard Grieg. The sound you hear in your head is the sound of the mighty folk-metal band IronStein!
IronStein originally formed in 2009 as a short-lived band called Life Through Death, before reforming in 2011 with two new members. Now, with a heavy guitar sound full of traditional folk, an epic and soaring keyboard, powerful pounding drums, jaunty bass-lines, and catchy choruses belted out by two manly singers, could they ask for anything more while still on the mortal realm?
Having shed copious amounts of blood, sweat and tears to forge their chest-beating sound along the grassy banks of the mighty Waikato River, what's left for these righteous warriors to prove? What could the possible impetus be for the band to forge ahead?
To share their glorious sound with you, my noble friends! For when you are hit by this onslaught of mightiness, you have the guarantee of Gandalf the Grey himself: you will get dancing! They are a non-stop metal-folk-and-groove fest with an unlimited amount of energy.
Their muscles bearing the scars of many hard-fought battles, their evil enemies vanquished or having fled, and the challengers to the folk-metal throne dispatched, it is time for the triumphant five-piece to get onstage and rock! Their steel-eyed gaze over the vast kingdom of New Zealand shows how proud and mighty they truly are.
IronStein are influenced by a range of bands, such as Turisas, Runrig, Eluveitie, The Chieftains, Korpiklaani, Heidevolk, Flogging Molly, Arkona, Jethro Tull, Black Sabbath and U2.
Band Members:
Adam Helliwell (vocals, guitar, tin whistles)
Peter Letfus (vocals, keyboards)
Matt Dalgety (guitar, backing vocals)
Scott Glass (bass, backing vocals)
Andrew Edward-Paul (drums, backing vocals)

More mp3s Posted: Sat Jul 28, 2012 12:16 am Uploaded two new songs. "Leif Ericson", which is written about the norse explorer of the same name, falls into viking folk metal genre. "Know that You're a Hero" is a live demo, and is quite different from our other songs, in that it is more of a rock ballad as opposed to folk metal. |
