The percussive orientated, power-chucking Voodoo Butta was formed in 2002 minus a singer. The ear piercing, gut punchy, bloody nose, hardcore band were gigging without the missing ingredient of a lead singer but still getting a collection of fans. Late 2002, after a prodigious six months of holding auditions for singers, they came across a particular fellow named Dean Talo, aged 27, oldest in the band, who two months earlier left his hardcore band in Auckland to reside back in his hometown of napier.
After a modest amount of practices and one single demo tape later, lyrics were written and fused with the instrumentals.
Voodoo Butta now has a new destructive, explosive sound after a plethora of gigging all over the showboat. They got an opportunity to play amongst four other bands with the likes of Shakhan, WW4, and Chuganaut on the Hell Comes Home Tour, proving to others outside Napier their style was one of a kind. Voodoo Butta gigged a bit more then entered the National Battle Of The Bands coming 1st place in the Napier regional competition, then third place at the national finals at Galatos in Auckland, not too long after back in the Napier bat cave, Voodoo Butta took out first place again for the Napier original music competition.
Voodoo Butta has planned a pre-emptive strike promoting their live CD album on a two month tour all over the north island, mixing it up with the likes of Terraform and hopefully with the assistance of a contract, Voodoo Butta can release a spawning second album to spread more hardcore pestilence to plague the whole of New Zealand and then the world.
Voodoo Butta's main goal is to tour the U.S, Canada and Australia.
