Oooooooooh I'll have to check that out.

Most Maiden tributes blow, like, 3 "okay" versions and a bunch of inferrior ones.

Ok - maybe it is because I have had a few and/or a long day - but I really hate track 7. Run to the Hills by Sign, on this Album. YUUUUKKKKK!!! They sound like a boy band... complete debortuary of a classic anthem... BOOO

My revised Review on this Album as follows: **Amazing wot you start hearing after a complete flogging in the IPOD, while on a train.. with a bunch of muszo Happy**

Ok. Fav's Top to bottom. 1)Hallowed be Thy Name/Machine Head "mind blowing good", 2)Iron Maiden/Trivium - rip the speed on this song, with ease, great vocals, 3)To Tame the Land/Dream Theatre- just down right made for maiden.. great, strong instrumentals and carried well the lenghth of 7 minutes, 4) Remember Tomorrow/Metallica, 5)Wasted Years/Devil Driver 6)The Trooper/Coheed & Cambria 7)Fear of the Dark/FightStar CoolWrathchild/Gallows - suprised punk really works on this song, the rest in assorted mixture of ok, hum alright and eww in different parts.

LISTEN WITH CAUTION - Run to the Hills by SIGN and second contender..Brave New World - Ghostlines. Ghost who.... Please let my ignorance to not knowing the 'ghosties' be my problem... other than that - Wot in the world were they thinking.. Call the 'ghost busters I say.... SIGN.. total rubbish, nearly paiful to listen to.. YYUUKK.

Be intersted in anyone else's review..!?

Yeah they really gayed-up Run to the Hills.

Was very cool to hear Metallica on there, even if the production is a bit painful - way too much compression, the hi-hat kills my ears... but I'm a big Met-fan and Maiden fan so it's aaaall good in the hood.

Not a fan of people growling the melodic bits. No, No!

haha yeah Devil Driver did that well.. haha but actually like the dirting up they did in the other areas.

np: The Beatles - The Sun King Melody, on a top 500 rock songs ever compilation.. You really can't beat some of the old' classic rock - they really creted the foundation for masterpieces now. Fav's from this Album - The Who, Floyd,Zeplin,Doors, Dylan...oh way to many to mention.

yeah i've had that maiden heaven album for several weeks now and its amazing!! but yeah the first time i heard run to the hills i was like "wtf is this shizz??" metallica do a decent job of remember tomorrow but i much prefer opeths version of the song (and a i mean MUCH prefer!). likewise for machine head they do a really awsome job of hallowed be thy name (and hope they play it when i see them in october) but i prefer cradle of filths version.
my fave cover was surprizingly by trivium, who woulduv guesed?

np: black sabbath - hand of doom (live in 1970 on the 'past lives' album) by far the best bargin i've ever had! found it in the warehouse bargin bins for only 8.99 and its a double disk that also came with a free poster and a free licensed (and awsome looking) black sabbath guitar pick!!

The best cover of Remember Tomorrow was by Anthrax on their "Nothing" Australasian tour EP, IMO.

I wonder if Kerrang will keep those tribute CD's coming. The Master of Puppets tribute was fairly average aside from the Machine Head and Mastodon tracks.

Having another listen now... a bit sad really. There's two covers that I forsee myself listening to regularly, but fot the most part it's horrible mall-metal bands Sad

Ugh, death metal rock covers usually disappoint me... as soon as they rip the vocal melodies from the song, the song dies, to me anyways. Then again, Godsmack's version retained the melody and it was gaaaaaaaaaay, camper than a row of pink tents.

Having said that, CC's version of Zero the Hero was pretty sweet. Chris' voice had so much more balls back in those days though.
