Watching Iris G perform is hypnotising, not just because she has a fantastic, somewhat wild voice and a dreamy approach to guitar playing. A big part of the appeal is seeing Iris react to her own music. Seeing her swaying and bobbing as she plays and sings, eyes closed, with a smile playing across her face, one wouldn’t imagine that five years ago Iris had “pretty bad” social anxiety.
The Avondale College student was named Smokefree Rockquest’s solo-duo section winner for 2016, with judges highlighting the 18-year-old’s unique sound and ability to take risks with her music.
