Crash-Test For Favourite Things

Bio

The phrase "the whole is greater than the sum of it's parts" is often used in relation to modern music. Crash-Test For Favourite Things are a living breathing embodiment of this concept. Their sound is multi layered and multi textured, yet it's the way that those very layers and textures interact that result in something so remarkably original.

The term "progressive" was almost derisive in times gone by, but it's one that is appropriate and complimentary in this case – and all the more so since the progressive approach is used with an enthusiasm and innocence rarely found in modern popular music.

Their sound is as atmospheric and ethereal as Pink Floyd at their psychedelic peak, yet there is a sub strata as uncompromising as Soundgarden or Tool. Lyrically there is a personal and political challenge as relevant today as in 1968 or 1998 – yet without the direct value judgements of the former. Crash Test in their live setting are a journey into many spaces. Take the trip.

Crash-Test for Favourite Things disbanded in 2011.

Band Members:
Mikey Brown (guitar, keyboards, synths, vocals)
Jonnie Barnard (guitar, samples)
David Salmon (drums, percussion, vocals)

This from Crash Test For Favourite Things:

Crash-Test For Favourite Things have a few different (and "favourite") things on the go this month and to keep it simple and easy I will lay out an easy-to-read, logical itinerary thus creating a favourable format which soothes and moisturises the eyes.......and hopefully persuades you to join in for something or everything!

KIWI FM - This week!

Thanks to all you long and short haired hoolagans who appropriated the Dogs Bollix last month for the Kiwi FM "Mash Up"!

The contest for the $3000 Rock Shop gear is currently being held and we would be ever so grateful if everyone and anyone you have ever met could take 30 seconds to log onto www.kiwifm.co.nz, click on the Mash Up link and vote for Crash Test For Favourite Things

Kings Arms announce:
CtFft Summer Christmas PARTY Saturday 27th December from 2pm

A huge thank you to everyone who has supported the band this year, from the new ep to its release into stores (keep buying it!) and the various gigs and nights out we have had in 2008. Next year is already underway in the CrashTest camp with plans for an album and out of town gigs being a top priority!

We have organised a mad afternoon tea party for all you stragglers still in Auckland on December 27. Come along from 2pm to sit in the sun and witness a mass explosion ring out in the form of our friend EKADEK, a variety of experimental goings on from Basin City and the charactaristic array of space treats notated by our boys Crash Test For Favourite Things, hey! we may even chuck in a wee bbq to help those sunshine beers and good times go down better!

Stay safe and have a roaring good Christmas
Amy........

The 2006 Crash-Test EP
Posted: Mon Sep 18, 2006 10:45 pm
I just wanted to say to all of Crash-Test For Favourite Things - Congratulations on your new EP. I have had the priviledge to recieve my own copy over here in Englad and from what I have heard of the CD it is amazing. The sound is professional and original and the lyrics are thoughtful and provocative.

I'm sorry I couldn't make your CD release party but from the people I know that went I can gather that your were nothing less than professional in both your sound and stage presence.

Congrats again guys.

Crash Test For Favourite Things is currently working towards completion of thier new demo and also putting a few bits and pieces together for thier new website...

we have all had a busy and stressful last month-ish due to mikey moving house, jono having huge ammonts of pressure on at work and tony...well...

anyway, we are beginning strenuous rehearsals next week and will be taking a short break from gigging to finish recording and writing a few new songs that are in the pipeline.

see you soon

Awesome Band

It's not often you find a local, underground band with this much talent. Not hearing bands like crash-test for favourite things on the radio is almost a waste of good music. Well worth following crash-test gigs as both the music and performance value is extremely high and very entertaining.

Proud.
