Music News - Coast This Week

Coast This Week
Ardijah

06 September 2005 - 0 Comments

Coast – this Thursday, Sept 8th, 9pm on Maori Television.

Time Makes The Wine .. Jammin .. Watchin You .. Give Me Your Number .. When The Feeling Is Gone… Coast is more than proud to welcome the wonderful sounds of Ardijah to our atamira this Thursday night. Their sound is timeless, unique and mature, a ‘sweet’ blend of funk, soul, hip hop and rap combined with their own distinct Poly Fonk creation – Polynesian groove rhythms. Come down to the studio on Thursday to check out this legendary act playing live, and for free! – on Coast!

Also on this week’s show:
Recloose, a Detroit-native, Wellington-residing DJ and Producer, who is out now on a national tour. He is bringing a wicked live band as part of the tour, and he hits Tamaki Makaurau and Coast! this week. His live band consists of Riki Gooch (TrinityRoots) on drums, Deva Mahal (daughter of legend Taj Mahal and sister of Rhombus’ Murkwon) on vocals, Mike Fabulous (The Black Seeds, Fly My Pretties) on guitar & bass, Isaac Aesili (Opensouls) on trumpet and percussion, James Illingworth on keys and Adan Tejerina on percussion – well worth checking out!

and last but by no means least:
Mika - a household name who conjures up images of glamour and flamboyance, a man who needs no introductions. He has extensive experience and longheld traditions in dancing, acting and entertaining both nationally and internationally, and was also the host of Maori Television’s Mika Live show. Mika and The Plastic Maori bring their special flavour live on Coast.

Plus field stories from last week’s AUT Maori Expo, the NZ Music Awards, the DMC champs as well as the best and freshest new clips.

COAST – Thursday night at 9pm. The only live music TV show in Aotearoa. Tune in. It’s choice.
