Netsky And Wilkinson Welcome in The New Year at the 15th Anniversary of Rhythm and Vines

01 January 2018 - 0 Comments

Kiwi favorites David Dallas, P-Money, Savage and a surprise appearance by Scribe joined international drum and bass heavyweights Netsky and Wilkinson as a capacity crowd in packed into Waiohika Estate for the final night of the 15th anniversary of Rhythm and Vines.

Starting as a small New Years party for friends, Rhythm and Vines has grown to become a globally recognised music brand, establishing itself as New Zealand’s premiere summer festival destination. Over a quarter of a million kiwis and thousands of musical talent having passed through the gates of Gisborne’s Waiohika Estate. To celebrate the occasion the 20k strong crowd joined together to sing happy birthday to the festival and its founders with festival co-founder and programmer Hamish Pinkham honoured by the response.

“I am so proud of the team delivering the event in challenging circumstances on the first day then cracking straight into a vintage R&V Day with some incredible special guests." Says Pinkham. "Tonight was a brilliant end to this chapter of the show and I can’t wait to have everyone back with us next year. The best years of Rhythm and Vines are still to come!”

The last day of the festival (and 2017) saw festival goers enjoy a beautiful hot Gisborne afternoon. Kiwi songstress Theia took to the main stage to see in the last sunset of 2017 followed by the party then heating up with sets from P Money, David Dallas  Savage and Scribe. Festival favorite Netsky was given the grand honour of welcoming in the New Year, kicking his set off post an emotional countdown video and fireworks.

This(Gisborne) is the first region in the world to see the first of Jan and that makes it such an experience." Says the Drum and Bass star. "Kiwis tend to be super friendly to everyone - I’ve come here eight times and every time they have taken care of me like family.”
