Music News - The Essential Tremor claim the February Wildcard Chart

The Essential Tremor claim the February Wildcard Chart

03 March 2015 - 0 Comments

The new year marches on for the http://www.theaudience.co.nz’s/ Wildcard Funding Chart, and we are pleased to announce the winner of the chart for February, The Essential Tremor! They join the other February Making Tracks recipients announced last week, and will take home a $10,000 recording and video grant. The Essential Tremor won with their genre bending tune Curious Cut, narrowly beating Kingsworth, who ran with them all the way to the final hour with Freedom Fire. The Essential Tremor did enough, though, and are our winners for February!

"So stoked!" says The Essential Tremor, "This is a solid stepping stone for The Essential Tremor, only made possible by the support and belief of everyone around us, really appreciate it!" The band took time to acknowledge the competition alongside them on the chart this month. "There were a bunch of choice tracks on the chart so we are incredibly humbled by the support we've been shown over the last month. We'll return the favour as best we can by fully embracing this opportunity to deliver you all an epic audio/visual feast! Thank you all so much!"

Congratulations, The Essential Tremor, winners of theaudience.co.nz’s Wildcard Funding Chart for February 2015! The band are clearly excited to create something special with the funding grant, and we can wait to see what they come up with. For now, you can still listen back to their chart-topping song Curious Cut here.

As we have now entered March, it means the next Wildcard Chart is already underway on theaudience.co.nz. This means you can already start voting for our next winner, and if you’re an artist yourself, you can get your own unreleased track up on the site for your chance to claim a $10,000 funding grant from NZ On Air. The likes of Late Night Poets and Ratsmagic have recently taken advantage of the funding to create some great videos, and you could be next.

Finally, a quick note regarding our October 2014 winners. As Venus In Transit have decided to call it a day, they won’t be using the funding grant they won for Rescue Me. So, as it was a particularly close race that month, we have decided to award that October grant to Emily Rice, for On The Road To Moab. Congratulations, Emily! We look forward to what you can create.
