BRUNO MARS

DOO-WOPS & HOOLIGANS APRIL TOUR

NZ SHOW ANNOUNCED!

Illusive and The Frontier Touring Company are thrilled to announce the first ever New Zealand concert with #1 chart-topper Bruno Mars.

The pop wunderkid, responsible for some of the hottest current tracks, including ‘Grenade’, ‘Just the Way You Are’, Travie McCoy’s ‘Billionaire’ and B.o.B.’s ‘Nothin’ on You’, has become one of the most talked-about artists in the world of music.

In New Zealand Bruno Mars continues to go from strength to strength with both his singles ‘Grenade’ and ‘Just The Way You Are’ (Platinum) rocketing to number one on the Top 40 Singles Chart and his album Doo-Wops & Hooligans (out now through Warner) achieving platinum sales here after peaking at #2 on the Top 40 album chart.

‘Grenade’ has recently returned to #1 on Billboard’s Hot 100 chart while simultaneously topping the singles charts in both Canada and the United Kingdom.  This marks the second Mars single to accomplish the international feat, following the Grammy Award-nominated ‘Just The Way You Are’.

Mars is only the sixth-ever solo male artist in history to reach the top of the charts with his first two singles and the first to do so in 13 years. Furthermore, ‘Grenade’ recently made history with the third biggest sales week of any US single ever (with sales of more than 559,000), and has been certified 2x platinum by the RIAA for total sales exceeding 2 million.

As part of his songwriting / production duo The Smeezingtons, the Hawaiian-born star has penned even more of the year’s most prolific songs, including Cee-Lo’s ‘F-ck You’, K’naan’s ‘Waving Flags’ (2010 World Cup theme song) and Flo Rida’s ‘Right Round’.

In recognition of both his brilliant solo career as well as these songwriting efforts, he has gathered an astonishing 7 nominations for the upcoming 53rd Annual Grammy Awards as well as a 2011 BRIT Award nomination for “Best International Male”. Bruno Mars is undeniably the break-through artist of 2010.

Mars feels the best way to experience the sound is to see him perform live with his band.  “That is what I’m most excited for – taking these songs and traveling them around the world.”  The only place he would rather be than in the recording studio, is with his band on stage – where he grew up.  “I think people are really going to gravitate towards the live show. We turn it into a party.”

Bruno Mars performing one show only at Vector Arena in Auckland this is sure to be one heck of a night out!  Get in early for your tickets. They’ll be snapped up fast!
