Gig & Concert News - Crowded House To Play Christchurch Show

10 October 2010 - 0 Comments

a day on the green is pleased to announce that there will be a South Island Crowded House concert at The Mudhouse Winery and Café in Waipara.

a day on the green is back and better than ever in 2011 with  this very special concert announcement - the sensational Crowded House with support from kiwi stars Supergroove and promising newcomer Seth Haapu!

Crowded House is New Zealand's most famous band whose reputation is renowned around the world. Crowded  House will embark on a 3 date winery tour this February, including our newest a day on the green venue Church Road in Napier.  The band will be on stage for two hours delivering the energetic, charismatic and hit-filled shows they are famous for.

Founded on the highly-gifted songwriting talents of Neil Finn, Crowded House have an epic back catalogue including such incredible songs as 'Weather With You', 'Four Seasons In One Day', 'Don't Dream It's Over', 'Fall At Your Feet' and 'Locked Out', and albums 'Crowded House', 'Woodface' and 'Together Alone'.

Back to their best following their 2007 reunion and the critically acclaimed platinum-selling album 'Time on Earth', the band released their sixth studio album 'Intriguer' in June, heading straight to the top of the charts.

"Neil Finn's Crowded House deliver another. It's one that, like the last, proves the band isn't just going through the motions in this extended chapter of a career." (4 out of 5)  Russell Baillie - NZ Herald

"The second act of Crowded House just got a whole lot more interesting." (4 out of 5) Graham Reid - Elsewhere.co.nz

Joining founding members Neil Finn and Nick Seymour are drummer Matt Sherrod and U.S. based keyboard player Mark Hart.  Returning from an extensive North American tour, this is the chance to see one of our most-loved bands, giving it their all around the country in February.

Supergroove has long been an institution in the kiwi rock scene.  Its 7 members have played together since the early age of 13 and the band's synergy is so apparent on stage that each performance outshines the previous. Interesting Supergroove actually reformed at the same time as Crowded House and played with them around the nation on the "Time On Earth" tour in 2007.

Supergroove are celebrated nationwide for their eclectic, high energy live shows and the radio hits that you simply cannot get out of your head - 'Can't Get Enough', 'Scorpio Girls', 'You Gotta Know',  'Sitting Inside My Head' and countless more.

The all original Supergroove line up will perform alongside Crowded House at a day on the green in February 2011.

Seth Haapu grew up in Wanganui in a very musical household. He formed his first band at age six with two siblings and has since been writing and recording his own material. He's trained in classical piano and taught himself to play guitar while he was in high school.

His debut album recorded and self produced at Roundhead Studios is set for release through Sony Music in early 2011 and integrates a collection of songs that Seth has written since the age of 21. Seth will perform with his full band at a day on the green showcasing to the audience his truly natural and shining talent.

a day on the green brings you the best line up yet with Crowded House, Supergroove and Seth Haapu. Tickets go on sale Monday 27th September from Ticketmaster.
