Nick D presents Yewala Yewala Afrika Soundsystem
DJ Reno (Shapeshifter)
Chris Cox
Maya & Vanya
Killa Fire Burn

A special treat inline for our party peeps tonight..…Habari! Shout Yewala to anyone in the African nation of Ghana, and they will know that you're up for a good time. 'Yewala' literally translates to party, and that's exactly what this soundsystem is about. Nick D has spent the last few years travelling around the globe picking up some of the most exotic club sounds you'll find, and it's no secret that some of the most explosive rhythms rocking clubs around the world are coming from the mighty mighty continent of Africa. From the Kwaito of South Africa, the Kuduro of Angola, Coupe Decale from Cote De'Ivoire to the Funana that's blowing up in the tiny island Of Cape Verde. The Yewala Soundsystem promises to deliver you some of the most colourful and vibrant party sounds you've ever heard. Joining Nick D on stage are vocalists Yaw Boateng and Francois Bymana Aka Kunta hailing from Ghana & Rwanda and the magic behind local African band Zoh-Zoh. And with the addition Percussion and African Dancers you just know there's gonna be some seriously sweaty club vibes going down. Yewalaaaa.

Nick D

Be it on the radio on George FM Breakfast, on his Television series

'Making Tracks' or on dance floors across the globe, Nick D's passion for music runs far and wide. Nick's been lucky enough to see a bit of the world, and has a vertiable swag-bag of exotic madcap party sounds he's picked up along the way - from the Nordic Space Disco of Lindstrom and Todd Terje, butt-shaking Baile handpicked from the favelas of Brazil, to the new African clubs sounds of Kwaito, Kuduru and Coupe Decale, and of course a healthy dosage of sub-bass and sub-genres from every other other nook & cranny of the globe thrown in for good measure. A Nick D set is like heading out to your local pub for a night out, having a few too many Caipirinhas, waking up on a beach in Antigua next to a 6 foot tall Nigerian man in a pink tutu, and a cute gypsy girl trying to steal your watch. Kinda.

DJ Reno

DJ Reno (Shapeshifter) mixes it up in true jedi style with light saving hip-hop, soul, jazz, house, funk and broken beat.

Chris Cox

A regular partner in crime with Recloose ,(including co-piloting the acclaimed "Hit It & Quit It Radio Show"), Chris also works with friend Frank Booker releasing records, and co-produced the last Nathan Haines album. He plays various strains of House, Boogie, Funk & Latin music. All the good stuff!

Maya & Vanya

Auckland-based, Croatian born DJ sisters, Maya and Vanya set the dance floor on fire with their taste making selections of all that’s new in the world of electro and dance. When not Djing their promoting the Thursday Tea Party, and making regular guest DJ appearances on George FM.
