NZ MUSIC INDUSTRY COMMISSION PRESENTS...

'I BELIEVE YOU ARE A STAR' - Getting Ahead in the NZ Music Industry

To celebrate NZ Music Month 2004, the NZMIC is taking a panel of experts out on the road to talk about what steps you could take to achieve that elusive leg-up in the music business.

The broad topic for this year could best be defined as - I've got the songs, what do I do now?

Whether it be getting your songs onto radio, television, creating publicity
for your band or figuring out what kind of deal you want for your records -
we hope to have some of the answers here for you.

We are really excited about the group who have been put together this year
as their experience covers many of the areas we are asked about the most at NZMIC - and they should make for an entertaining panel as well.

ANDREW SZUSTERMAN is the Programmer for national music television channel C4. His past experiences include Programme Director for Channel Z and music director at MTV UK.

BERNIE GRIFFEN is the owner of Global Routes, one of New Zealand’s biggest independent distributor. Bernie is also the Chairperson of Independent Music NZ, the independent record industry association.

MARK KNEEBONE is an independent publicist whose recent work includes
Scribe's album 'The Crusader' and Concord Dawn's 'Uprising'. Ex- Kog
Transmissions, Mark also owns Tardus Records, releasing albums by Minuit and his own act Paradigm.

DAMON COYLE, programmer for RDU, will also be there to talk about the best way to get your song onto the local b.net station.

CATH ANDERSEN is from the NZ Music Industry Commission and will be
moderating the panel.

I BELIEVE YOU ARE A STAR will be on Tuesday 25 May upstairs at Dux de Lux, Christchurch from 6pm to 7:30pm.

OTHER DATES NATIONWIDE:

Monday 24 May - Re:Fuel, Dunedin - 6pm > 7:30pm
Wednesday 26 May - Indigo Bar, Wellington - 6pm > 7:30pm
Thursday 27 May - Kings Arms, Auckland - 6pm > 7:30pm
