The Otago Chamber of Commerce is presenting 2 fully funded* workshops for the music sector featuring Jackie Dennis from Mushroom Music Publishing:

Music licensing – generating money beyond sales
Music distribution - music publishing and the money flow

Monday, 15 October
Workshop 1 Music licensing – generating money beyond sales
6.30pm – 9pm

Content includes:

- What is synchronisation?
- What do I need to know before I agree to my song being used in ad’s, film or on TV?
- How do I make money from it?
- Who owns the song once it has been used?
- Understanding the two copyrights – the master recording and the song.
- Knowing about new media including VOD’s and iLites.

Tuesday, 16 October
Workshop 2 Music distribution, music publishing and the money flow

- Do you need a music publisher?
- When you’ve done the deal, how is the money split?
- Who gets what?
- Who owns the copyright and how much control do I have?
