myspace is unfocussed, over-rated, and now heavily over-populated: if you think getting lost in a crowd is 'cool' then go for it...
as kiwis we are different straight away from most myspacers. People around the world recognise and love kiwi music as a sound (or even genre) all of its own. For this reason thousands of searches for kiwi music, bands, artsists, sounds, etc, occur weekly. Because we have this advantage, we can 'side' (or group) with each other to help ourselves be 'found'.
Thus the kiwi music site is our FRIEND - NO! it is our LOVER and our MOTHER (thus you can call me a MotherF...r!)
try muzic.net.nz it has the largest band index of any music site in nz, so if people are searching it will be HERE that they come to in the first three hits.
there is also amplifier.co.nz, right alongside muzic.net in terms of visibility.
these 2 will get you found on google. also there is realmusic.co.nz. run from out of Palmerston North (like another great website already mentioned). This is another good one, and seems to be more like a sharing/music-making community, with daily top10s and monthly top10s. Brynn, the webmaster there, is a good guy, and a long-time musician, which makes for good empathy.
all 3 sites allow for easy 'on-going' editing so you don't need everything ready when you register but if you do have yer mp3s and images already to go, there will be no mucking around, and you will have yerself some classy, high-profile webpages in less than a day!
Stand out from the crowd - be proud of who you are and how you are different - KIA KAHA!

Thanks for your help, ManAlone, do you have any idea of how I can get my band a profile on muzic.net.nz?
