Drumming up support in other cities
Posted: Wed Dec 7, 2005 6:47 pm

As a band who are just about set to really start hitting the national touring scene, and getting more exposure nation-wide, does anyone out there have some tips or thoughts on how we can create interest in other cities before we get there?

Obviously radio play is one area we'll be looking into, but aside from that is there anything else anyone can think of?

These forums are quite good, as well as the other forums dedicated to NZ music (we've increased web traffic to our site by quite a bit in the last 2 monhs since posting more heavily on them)...

... well I'd love to hear your ideas ...

Cheers!

A good thing is to get in touch with bands in the areas you want to play in.

You should find bands that play the same style of music, that way you could arrange a gig with them in their home town. Great instant crowds for gigs, providing the band has a good local following.

Local bands will also know the people to get in touch with to promote your gig.

If you're thinking of coming to Palmy, get in touch with the guys at TheRevv. They broadcast from a room above Guv'nors, which is the only venue in town that has regular live music gigs.
