Good morning everybody! And what a crisp and clear winter’s morning it is! We’re now over halfway through the year, any favorite albums thus far?

JIMMY WEBB –JUST ACROSS THE RIVER

“Just Across The River
” is the new album from Jimmy Webb which features interpretations of the classic songs that made him a vital cultural icon and features guest appearances from Jimmy's friends, fans and recording partners including Jackson Browne, Glen Campbell, Vince Gill, Billy Joel, Mark Knopfler, Michael McDonald, Willie Nelson, Linda Ronstadt, J.D. Souther and Lucinda Williams. "Just Across The River" came together at the behest of producer and longtime Jimmy collaborator Fred Mollin, who wished to honor Jimmy's storied career and his celebrated contributions to the Americana roots tradition.

For Fans of: Jackson Browne, Glenn Campbell, John Fogerty

LEFT OR RIGHT – NUGGETY

Left Or Right is a power trio heavily brewed in Invercargill (the town once acknowledged by some old cat from The Rolling Stones as the arsehole of the world). Now based in Dunedin the band is oblivious to any current genre trends, which allows them to push their sound further and further out of the box. Left Or Right performs a chunky mixture of alternative spacey roots, sonic jazz & fuzzy rock/blues. Left Or Right‘s “Nuggety” record is released on 12” Vinyl as well as on C.D, Cassette and digital.

For Fans of: Kora, Kyuss, Faith No More

LORN – NOTHING ELSE

The second artist album from Flying LotusBrainfeeder imprint is a deep, deep, dark and uncompromising suite of music. Epic, melancholic and brutal, “NothingElse” is a record which the listener has to be prepared theimmerse themselves in. Mastered by Warp Records’s Clark the rewards make it worth the effort. This is a record whichfeels like it’s been hewn from stone. Albeit electronic stone.A remarkable, transcendent achievement, it’s raw, emotional, angry, beautiful and real.

For Fans of: Flying Lotus, Clark, King Cannibal

VARIOUS ARTISTS – FUTURE HIP HOP

Continuing in their series of all things future Wagram Music presents, “Future Hip Hop”. A two CD set that brings together the best vibes from the international Hip Hop scene, from classic Hip Hop to Electro, from Dubstep to Soul. THE AMITY AFFLICTION – YOUNGBLOODS

The Amity Affliction’s meteoric rise to the top of the Australian punk and hardcore scenes happened so quickly that it’s no surprise that many media and radio outlets are scrambling to catch on. Their debut peaked at #26 on the ARIA Charts and saw the band voted co- Band of the Year in Blunt Magazine in 2009. “Youngbloods” is the highly anticipated follow up. Recorded in New Jersey and featuring the already viral/online hit track “I Hate Hartley” as well as crossover potential single “Youngbloods”, the album is sure to be a massive fan favourite.

A DEATH IN THE FAMILY – ORIGINS

Melbourne’s A Death in the Family have spent the past six years generating their own momentum, propelled by a fierce DIY spirit and a rare musical bond. A Death In The Family’s songs have showcased a group of gifted songwriters, with a potent blend of contemporary punk and ‘80s Australian rock, equally indebted to Hot Water Music and Husker Du as Midnight Oil and Spy vs Spy. The “Origins”EP was recorded with Sam Johnson and as bonus material the CD will include their cover of Leatherface's 'Watching You Sleep' and the out-of-print tracks from the 2007 Split with Manifesto Jukebox.

CUTE LEPERS – SMART ACCESSORIES

Once formed by Steve E. Nix in 2007, The Cute Lepers made a beeline for the punk and power pop classics in the used record bin. The Cute Lepers create the crisp, catchy punk numbers that you would normally expect from ex-members of The Briefs. They have toured the US, Europe and the UK extensively either solo or on support tours with bands like The Buzzcocks and their sophomore record, “Smart Accessories”, continues with more of the tuneful energy that earned their debut full length the attention of Joan Jett's Blackheart Records, Damaged Goods Records, and 1-2-3-4 Go! Records.
