Ma V Elle

Bio

Lavina Williams and Maybelle Galuvao are Ma-V-Elle, south Auckland's own souls sisters. With strong R&B sensibilities, these girls turned heads with their 1997 debut album 'Spoken To'.

That first album earned them three trips to Europe, including two performances at the renowned Ronnie Scott's club in London. They also played the Air and Water show, sharing the stage with the likes of Mos Def, B*witched and Lutricia McNeal. Add to that some profile support slots at home, opening for Tina Turner, The Supremes and Boney M.

The second album is regarded as the 'difficult' one to make. It's even more difficult if you also have to deal with a new baby, marriage and the founding member of your group leaving: Marina Davis had been with the group since they began back at Manurewa secondary school. But Ma-V-Elle dealt with it all to release 'Angel' in 1999.

Beautiful harmonies, sexy, soul-diva vocals and sharp, pop professionalism. Unfortunately both girls have now gone their seperate ways into solo careers.
