Hell Is Other People was born in 1995 from, in the words of drummer Matt Barnes, 'the seedy depths of tiny shithole in Newtown', where all three original members lived together.
The name was taken from a Jean-Paul Satre text on existensialism and accuratley reflected the psychological effects of their living conditions at the time.
HIOP disbanded in 2000, with Craig Terris moving to Auckland to form Cassette with Tom Watson, as well as playing in Baconfoot.
Band Members:
Matt Barnes (drums)
Peter Gray (vocals, guitar)
Craig Terris (bass, keyboards)
