Also called The Pedalling Machine Gunner, The Metservice originate from Christchurch.
Live, the band featured members of The Exercise Machine, Fuce and Stoat Gobbler. The Metservice have not played live since 2001 and their gigs can best be described as fairly ordinary, but a highlight was their RDU live to air on the 18th of October 2000. A track 'Escape from the Pig Islands' features on the 2002 'Fine Tuned' compilation released by 'The Package'.
The Metservice will be releasing a debut album this year accompanied by a couple of videos (which will most likely never be played on local music TV).
The Metservice is the songwriting outlet for Dave Holmes. Averse to the conventions and mundanity of modern times, many of these tracks have been recorded using unorthodox and often foolish recording techniques. Instruments have been recorded without monitors or headphones, in ill suited environments, using some of the crappest technology available. While not a great band, The Metservice are a fairly competant average kiwi band.
