Spa are made up of the combined talents of Steven Tait (vocals, guitar), Hayden Sinclair (bass) and Brian Donnelly (drums).
Tait and Sinclair have played in bands together for a few years now. After stints in Dunedin and London (where Spa headlined the First New Zealand Music Festival with the Ghostclub), the band have now settled in Auckland. More Spa history...
Donnelly, has also played with many other NZ bands and played on David Kilgour's Sugar Mouth album as well as stints with Sugarbug and Sinkboat.
The first two Spa singles, 'Neil of Diamonds' and 'Yale' have received considerable radio play throughout NZ and Australia. 'Neil of Diamonds' was nominated for Indie Video of the Year at the Juice TV awards in 2004 while the video for 'Yale' was a finalist in the Best Animated Video section of the 2004 Kodak Music Clip Awards, held annually in Wellington.
Signed to the Sarang Bang Records label, home of Sinclair's other band Salon Kingsadore, 2006 is shaping up to be a good year for the kids from Spa. The band are hitting their stride and are putting together a steady stream of rock gems ready to be added to the New Zealand rock pantheon.
Their self-titled debut album will be out soon (Mar 2006).
