Dyaid

Bio

Dyaid formed in Wellington in late 1999. Bassist Kieran had been jamming with guitarist Kerish and drummer Chetan, and when vocalist Matt replied to an advert Dyaid was formed. Soon a set of originals was created in the rapcore genre. After playing the various dodgy dives around Wellington with bands such as Product, Channel 13, Floorpie, Deaf Terrorists, Self Harm and Left Rustle.

After shedding guitarist Kerish due to creative differences, dyaid scrapped almost their entire set. They recruited Courtney to take over guitar and reinvented themselves, creating a more aggressive sound and incorporating a more political lyrical bent. On June 8th 2000 with Discenter and Channel 13, dyaid played their first hardcore set to a packed Valve Bar. In August 2000 Dyaid competed in the VUSA band comp, and played in Auckland with Day One and Discenter.

Dyaid played their last set in Mount Cook and disbanded on 1 May 2001. Matt and Pip went on to form a new rock outfit called Two Lane Black Top.
