Lynette Diaz is an American-born, New Zealand-based Singer-Songwriter with a voice and writing style that evokes the sounds of female folk singers of the 60's.
Lynette sings with a fiery voice that she attributes to her Mexican-American roots. “Music comes through me, it’s a passion, it’s heart-filled, it’s fun, it’s intense and it’s all rooted in my upbringing around a hodgepodge of various styles of music from 60’s and 70’s folk/country, independent singer-songwriter, 80’s techno and traditional Mexican folklore music.
Lynette released her debut Cd, “Lyrics In My Head’ in late 2008. The song ‘Living Before Dying’ has received honorable mention in the Unisong International Songwriting Contest and Peacedriven Song Competition. Various songs from the Cd have received airplay in NZ, Australia and United States. Lynette recently returned to New Zealand after spending two months performing in the Seattle area of the United States.
Besides her own music, she is active in promoting other New Zealand female acoustic artists through the New Zealand Women's Acoustic Collective (NZWAC), which she founded in 2008 . The NZWAC celebrates a sense of community and collaboration amongst member female artists.
Lynette is also the radio host of "FemAcoustica Music and Review" , a monthly radio show on Plains FM 96.9 (Christchurch), featuring female acoustic artists, with an emphasis on New Zealand music.
