Paul Robertson, the founding member of Tegan, was already well known on the Auckland rock scene after playing with The Rock 'n' Roll Machine, The D4, The Rainy Days and Slavetrader.
After years of selling his soul for Rock 'n' Roll,he decided to step out from the shadow of his drum kit and deliver the songs he'd been formulating behind closed doors. He wanted to adapt the grunge music he loved in high school to appeal to a discriminating Auckland scene always eager for fresh blood. Realising he couldn't do it alone, he approached Chris Dunn (bass guitar) at a weekly 80s disco night with the great idea to start a band and make a million bucks.
In May 2005 they recruited JP Watson (drums) and Mike Raven (lead guitar) and have been playing shows around Auckland since then. In August the band supported Tegan & Sara's sell-out gig, and followed this success by reaching number one on the bFM weekly top ten with their first playlisted single 'Run and Hide'. They have released a CD/EP on Powertool Records and are making their debut music video. Tegan are looking forward to playing shows up and down the country, so watch out!
