Woodview is something of a family affair. Its roots developed in the 90's from the brother and sister, guitarist and singer combination of Matthew and Aletta Johnson. Together this duo made many first cuts during late night sojourns at The Temple Bar and similar venues in Auckland City.
In 2004 brother Daniel (on drums) joined Aletta and Matthew and Woodview was conceived. Over a period of 6 months a set of 12 original songs was created that culminated in a well received one-off performance late 2004 at the Grand Hotel in Helensville.
Later that year Matthew relocated to Christchurch and their father Philip Johnson stepped in to fill his shoes on guitar with a creative distillation of sounds captured over the last fifty odd years.
Mid 2005 Woodview realised that if they were going to successfully promote the songs they had created they would need a bass player. The universe conspired and Travis Moore raised his hand for the job. His sound and enthusiasm complimented the existing material perfectly and he is now a creative member of the group.
