If you are entrenched in and or familiar with the world of EDM (specifically Drum n Bass) then Lee Mvtthews will require no introduction, but for those of us that are perhaps not keeping up, here is the group summary in three sentences from a Kiwi perspective:
A few years back in 2012, a couple of Auckland blokes named Graham Matthews and Tom Lee were knocking the top off a few beers while shooting the shizness about the music business. They found that they were both into the same stuff, right and decided to have a crack at making a few tunes on the computer. After smashing out heaps of really cool bangers and getting tons of streams on the internet, they got invited to go play some cool gigs at Rhythm & Vines, Northern Bass, Homegrown & Summer Classic and they are now one of the sweetest New Zealand drum & bass acts.
Cool
All caught up?
Onto their latest release then….
Drum n Bass is not for chilling back in your favourite chair on a Sunday morning with a fine coffee. No No NO. This stuff is for bouncing hard at a Summer festival with your hands in the air and living like there is no tomorrow. Thinking About is the exact musical representation of this feeling and delivers all the emotion involved in such an experience, perfectly.
The musical elements of the track combine an uplifting female vocal that rises into classic familiar club sounds, leading inevitably to a huge bass line bedded with some breakbeat groove, all designed and delivered to keep you moving on the floor. The version that is available on Spotify comes in at a very tiny 2:39 which makes it very radio friendly and bursting at the seams with infectious energy. However I am certain that there will be a much longer version delivered live which will most definitely keep the roof hanging onto its rafters. It's going to be a massive live track.
As previously stated, Lee Mvtthews are coming up ten years as creatives and they are very good at what they do. So good in fact that Thinking About is actually a collaboration with Perth based artist ShockOne.
Speaking to Thinkin About, ShockOne said:
“Thinkin About was a really fun track to work on with Lee Mvtthews. It’s our first collaborative effort and I’m stoked with how it came out. I feel like this song really captures that feeling of hedonism and reckless abandon when you’re out at a rave with mates. I hope the audience feels the same way!”
I reckon he was right. This is definitely the vibe that I got from Thinking About
Top work lads.
