Listening to Christchurch downbeat artist Mmdelai (aka Annemarie Duff) is definitely a new experience. The CD called ĎMusic for Sleep and Creativityí was born out of a personal need for the artist, who "was having trouble sleeping so [this sort of music] was what I was listening to at the time. It is also background music, to help people get into the creative flow."
I can definitely connect with the creative process of this album, putting it on to help open my own creative process, the music faded into the background with some more stimulating parts that snapped me back to reality.
It is mostly low impact, which is the point, although I did not find it to help my own sleep because of its musical temperament. 12 tracks all unique in their own way not overly repetitive which is something I would have expected as to not upset the mood, but I was surprised by the album as a whole. Some instrumentals, a few whistles and vocals and if you feel that relaxation and creativity is needed in the home this would be a good backing track to any process that needs gentle encouragement.
