Malchicks - Remasters Collection - 'Head to Head' Single Out Now

07 December 2019 - 0 Comments

In the build up to the release of their Everything collection the Malchicks release the lead song Head To Head, a sonic punch of guitars, beats, bass and voice originally released on their album Mercury.

The Everything collection collates all 16 released studio recordings including their Lotus EP, Mercury album, and compilation tracks, extensively remastered for the first time since their original early 90's release, using the latest mastering technology to bring forward more detail and punch from the original recordings. A bonus disc of 7 unreleased songs is also included with the collection, fleshing out the bands formative years.

The Malchicks pioneered swirling, dynamic guitar sounds in New Zealand, mining similar territory associated with bands like My Bloody Valentine, Slowdive and Swervedriver, with the band taking it in their own direction, adding a focused punch behind the sonic guitars and a literary flourish to their lyrics and vocals.

The band were ahead of their time, and in a class of their own in their hometown of Auckland New Zealand, a globe away from their stylistic contemporaries in the UK, but delivering songs and sounds easily on par with the best. The remastered 'Everything' collection captures and accentuates the power and beauty of their original work, bringing it up to sonic spec for the present day. The collection writes the band back into local music history as a reminder of the exceptional wealth of music found at the bottom of the world.

Head to Head is the lead track from the collection.
