Wellington dub rockers Tunes of I today announce the release of their brand new single Get Up ahead of their performance at Spark Arena tonight in support of Tash Sultana. The single release is celebrated with a new video and North Island summer tour announcement.
Get Up is a backyard party jam exposing 70’s influences that Tunes of I have only hinted at in previous releases. The single brings together the distinct grooves and horn lines that the band are known for while delivering extra production elements to create a fresh soundscape with classic flavours.
Recorded and mixed by the legendary Lee Prebble at Surgery Studios in Wellington, the single was mastered by LA-based Kelly Hibbert (Almachrome). Their NZ On Air New Music funded video was directed and produced by Lee Gingold and Mouthfull Productions.
Tonight’s show with Tash Sultana is just the beginning; Tunes of I are set to hit the road with local heavyweights Fat Freddy’s Drop this summer, performing four shows around the North Island. In between and around these major support slots they will embark on a Get Up single release tour of their own, performing nationwide throughout the summer months including appearances at Outfield Festival in Hawkes Bay, Festival of Lights in New Plymouth and Summer Stein in Christchurch for Canterbury University's orientation festivities.
