Recorded in Grey Lynn, Auckland, 21 year old Chris Bates will release his dark pop single Chasing Kites, backed by the dreamy and intricate production of up and coming producer EDY. The track is huge and cinematic, with a thick wall of sound in the chorus including horns and hard-hitting snares.

With an intense mixture of lyrical simplicity and metaphor, the song compares kite-chasing to a turbulent relationship about to be ripped from your hands. "You're not what you used to be, I'd better set you free..."

Chasing Kites is set for release on Friday 8 November, on all streaming and online platforms.
