Dance legends Peking Duk to headline Soundsplash Timaru

08 October 2019 - 0 Comments

Australasia’s favourite dance duo Peking Duk have just been confirmed to headline Timaru’s inaugural Soundsplash Festival with their famed DJ set.

The first-ever Soundsplash Timaru takes place from January 17 to 19, 2020 at beautiful Caroline Bay - right by the beach. The two-night all-ages festival will be held across two stages, with camping available. It will run at the same time as Soundsplash Raglan at the picturesque Wainui Reserve.

Peking Duk will also perform at the all-ages Raglan festival.

Peking Duk are firm favourites on the world festival circuit. The duo AKA Adam Hyde and Reuben Styles started their ascent in 2014 with High, the ARIA-winning, four-times platinum single that was the #1 most played track on Triple J that year and #2 in the Hottest 100. They followed that up with two more huge hits – the triple platinum Take Me Over, and the gold-certified ‘Say My Name’ – before returning in late 2016 with Stranger, a collaboration with Swedish cool girl Elliphant that’s already racked up 30 million streams on Spotify and won the Apple Music Song of the Year award at the 2017 ARIAs.

The double-act join the Timaru line-up as headliners alongside an exciting array of international and local New Zealand acts, including Polo G, Dylan Frost (Sticky Fingers), Stan Walker, Tiki Taane, Sachi, Theia, Lastlings and Sons of Zion. See the list of acts below.

Raglan also features many of the names above as well as Mitch James, Home Brew, Montell2099, Paige, Mako Road and Mini Simmons.

Alongside Peking Duk, also just announced for Timaru are drum and bass movers and shakers: Drumsound & Bassline, Smith b2b and Tantrum Desire ft. Youngman MC.

There are more acts to still be announced, so watch this space.

After many years of drawing thousands to the west coast’s magical spot by the ocean in Raglan, Soundsplash has developed a reputation that’s second to none. They festival is renowned for its focus on family, culture, sustainability, and being an all-inclusive celebration of music.
