Mousey teases debut album with new single 'A Lifelong Pursuit'

A Lifelong Pursuit - out today - is the fourth single from Mousey’s upcoming debut album Lemon Law.

Listen here: Spotify / iTunes / Apple

Sonically A Lifelong Pursuit is a jaunty, jangly tune with layers of vocals on overload. Lyrically it tackles the challenge of loving those who cause you pain.

“Much like ripping your legs off a sticky leather couch or karate chopping your way through a piece of wood, the action I’m talking about in this song is something that takes all of your energy and focus for a second, zooming past the edges of your comfort zone,” explains Mousey, AKA Sarena Close.

“Not letting fear stop you from showing your love and connecting to others and not letting power stop you from forgiving. This song is called ‘A Lifelong Pursuit’ because you can’t just do this once, it is the constant smashing of the walls around you and taking new ground towards living a life of unconditional love.”

Listen carefully and you may hear the quirky influences of Regina Spektor. But make no mistake, Mousey is an artist who is forging her own unique path in music.

The Christchurch-based singer-songwriter has gone from strength-to-strength since first emerging with her debut single ‘Extreme Highs’ earlier this year. She has since released singles ‘Take Me To Harley Street’ and If You Really Loved Me from her upcoming debut album Lemon Law, out on October 4.

Extreme Highs earned Mousey a nomination at the 2019 Silver Scroll Awards. She is also embarking on her first-ever Australasian tour. See tour dates below. Mousey will also support The Beths in Dunedin on Friday, November 1 and in Christchurch on Saturday, November 2.
