Seas of Conflict release haunting video for new track 'Eventide'

25 July 2019 - 0 Comments

New Zealand metallers Seas Of Conflict have crafted a modern metalcore banger entitled Eventide that showcases the band’s ability to weave technicality with melody of epic proportions! The track premiered yesterday through Wall of Sound and comes accompanied by a music video with a haunting narrative.

Eventide was recorded in August of 2018 immediately following the bands NZ support slot with Make Them Suffer and Silent Planet. The production team remained the same as 2017's Vestige EP and the most recent single Monachopsis which was produced by Zorran Mendonsa (Antagonist A.D., City Of Soulsand Skyharbor)
and mastered by Ermin Hamidovic (Periphery, Northlane) of Systemic Productions in Melbourne. The lyrics are written to be abstract and open to interpretation to a degree, but vocalist Kody Naidoo explains that "Eventide is an outcry of realised love, confessing one’s vulnerability and affection for another, compared to the light of a new day."

The brand new single comes paired with a beautifully dark video clip created by notable Maori director Amber Beaton (Beastwars, Jimmy Urine, Bulletbelt) and produced by Lisa Wolf and the band themselves. The band wanted to collaborate with someone with vivid creativity for this project so they approached Amber with the intention of presenting Eventide using her ominous, goth-inspired flair. The narrative features characters based on Scandinavian folklore with a dark twist, the narrative revolves around a young forest-dwelling outcast who tries to escape the curse of a Grimm. Interwoven with captivating performance shots, the videos were shot in a stunning arboretum in the band’s hometown of Hamilton, NZ, in the middle of autumn.

Formed in the wake of Hamilton's rising tide of modern metal and hardcore, Seas Of Conflict started making waves in the New Zealand underground community in 2011; quickly proving that these impressionable, fresh minds were a creative force that commanded attention. Since then the boys have gone from strength to strength, beginning their career with opening slots alongside bands like Thy Art Is Murder, Stray From The Path, and In Hearts Wake and working their way up to the release of their 2017 EP Vestige, which lit a fire in the band to pursue a sound that was resonating throughout the country.

Vestige brought rave reviews and chart success which lead to the band wasting no time as 2019 came rolling in, releasing their latest single Monachopsis at the end of January. The song was immediately hand-selected to feature on multiple playlists across Apple Music and Spotify. The track has since gained almost 60,000 streams along with a list of new supporters from around the globe. The band now anticipate their biggest year yet as they prepare to play support for Polaris in Auckland alongside Crooked Royals in August and have just been handpicked to support Northlane on their only NZ show for 2019.

Seas of Conflict's single Monachopsis saw them pushing themselves both musically and lyrically into a new realm, and Eventide pushes it even further. 'Eventide' is out Friday 26 July and will be available at all streaming platforms and digital stores.
