Music News - Sam Loveridge Releases 'Cold' + Video

Sam Loveridge Releases 'Cold' + Video

10 July 2019 - 0 Comments

Following on from his debut album, Clarity, Sam Loveridge releases his poignant, atmospheric folk track, Cold, an honest and raw take on mental health in Aotearoa along with a simple and reflective video directed by Bhagirath Pruvti.

Cold was originally written by Sam 13 years ago, with the original music composed when he was just 14 years of age. Since then, Sam has always been drawn back to the song, which he has developed and poured his heart into over the past four years.

With a lot of media space devoted to our poor mental health as a country and especially as a musical community if felt important to put this song out. It's about how at times we might hide parts of ourselves away and shy away from things that we love or give us energy. It's a response to some times when I felt this way and a reminder to keep opening up and going outside and experiencing this beautiful world we live in. It's probably the simplest song I've ever written but it took so long. I'm really stoked to share one of these outside moments in the video, hanging out with some friends and taking shit at the beach. It was a lovely day” - Sam Loveridge

Sam and his band will be celebrating their single release over two dates, Auckland at Anthology Lounge on July 19th with support from The RVMES, Lessless and Permission to Speak, and Christchurch at A Rolling Stone with Lee Martin on July 26th. Pre-sale tickets are available from Under The Radar and Eventfinder respectively.
