Celestial songstress Lou’ana shares Move Along, the smooth, disco-heavy follow up to the Kiwi artist’s debut single Eye to Eye. The sultry accompanying video, co-directed by Nina Wells and Lou’ana, premiered on RNZ Music on the eve of her spellbinding headliner set at this year’s Waiheke Jazz Festival on Easter Weekend.

As smoky vocal tones narrate a journey that sees jealousy manifested as a seductive siren, Move Along sees Lou’ana channel effortlessly into a 70’s Cleopatra. The siren herself is portrayed by dancer and choreographer Jane Strickland in the video, a force that like jealousy, visits ‘with no invite’.

"Jealousy can be a manifestation of she unnamed. I sing about this feeling I am experiencing, a darker shade of emotion, like an entity dancing around my mind and haunting me. But in the end, you gotta dance with the devil & have tea with your demons” Lou’ana explains.

Carrying the presence of an “old soul”, Lou’ana embodies a cosmic, paradoxical cocktail of sweet and soulful, blended with a gritty, blues edge that references the golden age of Etta James, Emmylou Harris to the rawness of Stevie Nicks and Amy Winehouse.

Having performed all around New Zealand as part of the inimitable funk troup Hipstamatics, Lou’ana has played a multitude of festivals across the country and supported a number of New Zealand jazz acts including Andrew Faleatua at Samoana Jazz Festival and the 2015 Pacific Music Awards, as well as providing live vocals for kiwi electronic outfit Sola Rosa.
