On Friday May 3, 2019, fresh off the back of the release of his latest single Bland Designs (stream here), irreverent Auckland-based songwriter-producer Harry Platt will make his live debut with his band the Ellice Road Boyz. Taking the stage at Backbeat Bar and Live Music Venue on Auckland’s notorious Karangahape Road, he’ll be joined by special guests alt-indie groovers Odds and Ends, delectable folk-pop purveyors Good Thieves and fresh indie rock trio Hypershout.
Harry Platt is a disillusioned architect and slightly average singer-songwriter/producer based in the Range Rover-infested metropolis of Auckland, New Zealand. Originally hailing from the Anglophilic and flagrantly flat[1] sprawling collection of suburbs that is Christchurch, outputs under the Hazza Making Noise name flirt around various guises of whatever is left of the ageing genre, alternative rock. With an ever evolving catalogue of more singles than a totally legit Eastern European dating site, which display complete inability to maintain a consistent musical typology or aesthetic, Harry's recent lyrical themes dabble in somewhat cliche "meaning of life" rhetoric as well as making sense of the consequences that differing technological innovations have on us both sociologically and as individuals. While currently pondering a conceptual extended play project for 2019, he is also an avid sausage roll enthusiast.
“Hazza Making Noise is the musical equivalent of an espresso martini at 3am. Bold with layered flavours and deeefinitely always a good idea.”
"Good Thieves a solid seven on the scale of beige to zesty. This acoustic four piece will steal your heart, and then return it because they feel bad.”
“Odds and Ends are like the perfect fruit salad; filled with juicy melodies, tasty songs, and sweet, sweet harmonies. Perfect for the summer, or any other season of the year.”
"Hypershout are three-piece indie band blended together by duct tape, cardboard and $5 beers, all served in a freshly baked PVC pipe."
