Music News - A new music festival this summer

A new music festival this summer

27 November 2017 - 0 Comments

Golden Bass Music Festival in Golden Bay from 12th-14th January 2018 features top NZ and international underground electronic music producers and DJs entwined with live acts and bands to create a fusion of music styles.

Ensuring there’s something for everyone over the weekend; whatever is playing on the Meadow stage has something contrary at the second zone – Paradigm Shift.  And there is a broad spectrum of musical styles – Dub, Reggae, Hip Hop, Glitch, Dub Step, DnB, Liquid, Mid Tempo, House, Deep House, Soul, Psychedelic Rock, Techno, Prog, Psy Trance and more.  For a full line up visit: https://www.goldenbassmusicfestival.nz/line-up

Headlining is Grouch a mid-tempo, chunky prog Trance producer from Nelson. Over the last few years Grouch has cemented his position as one of the most innovative and sought-after producers in the alternative electronic music scene whose live sets are legendary on the international festival circuit. He will be playing two sets, one highlighting music from his new album Grouch in Dub, (out now on Shantiplanti), the other chunky, progressive trance.

For Drum n Bass fans Patrick Hawkins of State of Mind takes Friday night’s top spot. With Stuart Maxwell, the duo has numerous awards and albums under their belts for a variety of record labels, launching their own, SOM Music over a decade ago.

Others showcasing new releases include Italian DJ Loopus in Fabula (funkadelic jazzy tek trance) whose album Jazz Machine will be out shortly, while Melbourne-based Eartheogen’s EP Living Art was released earlier this year on Zenon Records.

From highly experienced to newly discovered talent, DJ's are interwoven with bands including locals Totara Collective and The Hoard (Runner Ups in the 2016 Smokefree Rockquest) to create a magical soundscape for the weekend.

Set in an idyllic location with shady camping, workshops, markets, performance and kids’ entertainment. The Twisty Twinz will be demonstrating their extraordinary acrobatic and contortionist skills; there are yoga opportunities to welcome the day or re-energise, fire performers, shops and food stalls as well as an amazing, zen swimming hole – the Hidden Waters. As an extra bonus this lush location is only ten minutes’ drive to Takaka town.

Tickets are available through Eventbrite
