Reinventing Kiwi jazz, After ‘Ours are proud to announce that their superb debut single See The Light is now available
Collaborating with London-based vocalist Kevin Mark Trail, the Auckland duo Michal Martyniuk & Nick Williams have created a smooth, soulful, and mellow first outing in See The Light. The track that was mixed by Mike Patto and band member Nick fuses the classic Rhodes sound with modern grooving hip-hop to produce something settled and positive.
The band have also released a stunning video to accompany the track, which can now be watched on YouTube. Set among the picturesque landscape of Auckland’s West Coast, the video conveys a strong sense of community and family, visually representing the collaborative feelings present in this single and the other tracks on their soon to be released album.
After ‘Ours was born over five years ago when drummer Nick Williams found a kindred spirit in professional pianist/keyboardist Michal Martyniuk, and a common interest in making music that spans genres while being solidly grounded in jazz. Both experienced performers, Nick and Michal have relished the challenges of writing and self-producing in After ‘Ours, and have created together something that they are truly delighted with.
A genuine bringing together of kindred spirits, Kevin Mark Trail raved about the experience working with After ‘Ours on the song, just one of the five album tracks he features on: “This music is truth, music I loved being part of”.
See The Light is the first single from After ‘Ours debut album Odyssey which is due for release this year via StudioZone, an independent New Zealand label created to release quality original music. Stay tuned for more details coming soon...
