Steel Panther - support act announced for NZ

17 June 2016 - 0 Comments

Up-and-coming Auckland band Blue Ruin has been confirmed as the support act for Steel Panther’s one-off New Zealand show this month.

The all-girl five piece formed in 2015 and has quickly developed a loyal fan-base with their full tilt, theatrical live performances and unique blend of hardcore punk and classic rock, with a metal edge.

Hot in demand, Blue Ruin has just finished touring the North Island with rock goddess Cherie Currie from The Runaways and has played with other legendary acts such as Misfits and Buckcherry.

The band’s now poised to release its first single Scream Queen. Punctuated with grungy riffs and the eerie feeling that places the listener in the midst of their own personal horror movie this is a rock song like no other. And it’s indicative of Blue Ruin’s incomparable performance and style.

Presented by MJR Presents, Steel Panther will play the iconic Powerstation in Auckland on June 26. It comes hot on the heels of the release of their Live Acoustic record and feature film, Live from Lexxi’s Mom’s Garage.

As anyone who’s ever been to a Steel Panther gig can attest to – this show is not for the faint-hearted. In fact, expect an all-out assault on your ears, moral standing and your private parts.

Live From Lexxi’s Mom’s Garage is the band’s first full length film, featuring a live 10 song acoustic concert interspersed with comedic vignettes showcasing the band’s unmatched shenanigans and debauchery. The one-hour film is now available on DVD from Steel Panther’s label, Kobalt Records, at SteelPantherRocks.com. The album only version can be found on Amazon, iTunes, and wherever music is sold.

For the uninitiated, Steel Panther was formed in 2000 and is Michael Starr (lead singer), Satchel (guitarist), Lexxi Foxx (bass) and Stix Zadinia (drums). The fearsome foursome are not stopping anytime soon. “Our drive to bring heavy metal back has not lessened,” concludes Michael Starr. “It’s actually gotten stronger. We’re not going to stop. I look forward to our continued world domination.”
