Speakers announced for NZ Music Month Summit 2015

11 May 2015 - 0 Comments

The NZ Music Managers' Forum together with the NZ Music Commission are pleased to announce the agency representatives who will be leading The Official 2015 NZ Music Month Summit masterclasses on Saturday 23 May, 2015.

This year the NZ Music Month Summit is an intimate series of masterclasses where delegates can get up close and personal with music industry agencies and find out first-hand how to make money from their music, what funding is available, and hear tips and pointers on how to present the best application for success.

The Summit was announced last week and already the registrations for these focused sessions are at 50% capacity. To secure a place at the NZ Music Month Summit please rsvp to: [email protected]

The FREE event will include experienced music industry specialists including Brendan Smyth from NZ On Air, Alan Holt from the NZ Music Commission, Dean Cameron from Recorded Music NZ, Chris Archer from Creative New Zealand  and Ant Healey from APRA AMCOS.

Meet the Music Agency Representatives

Brendan Smyth is part of the Senior Leadership Team at NZ On Air where has worked since it was established in 1989. He set up and currently runs NZ On Air's music funding and promotions schemes. Brendan will be advising on how NZ On Air may be able to help fund your next step as a musician and help get your song out there via the broadcast media.

Alan Holt is the Export Coordinator for Outward Sound at the New Zealand Music Commission, a government-funded agency committed to supporting NZ music businesses. Outward Sound undertakes projects and partnerships aimed at exporting NZ music and assisting music businesses in working internationally. Alan will be guiding attendees on the upskilling opportunities the Music Commission has to get your music business export ready.

Dean Cameron is the distribution & member services manager for Recorded Music NZ, a non-profit industry representation and licensing organisation for recording artists and their labels. Dean will be educating attendees on the Music Grants programme and direct-to-artist scheme.

Chris Archer is Senior Arts Adviser (Music) for Creative New Zealand and is based in Christchurch. Chris will outline what Creative New Zealand (CNZ) does for the arts sector, outline CNZ’s funding programmes and initiatives, explain the type of support that is available to contemporary popular music artists and provide some guidance on how to put your best foot forward when applying for funding support.

Ant Healey is the Head of New Zealand Operations at APRA AMCOS, which represents over 80,000 New Zealand and Australian music writers and publishers. Anthony is also a Trustee of the Centre for NZ Music and the New Zealand Music Foundation. During the masterclasses he will advise on the different ways APRA AMCOS can help you earn income from your music.
